Born March 5, 1949 in Mount Vernon, Illinois, he graduated from Mt. Vernon Township High School in 1967. In 1968, he traveled across the country to Riverside City College (RCC) in Riverside, CA to play football. His success at RCC earned him a scholarship from UCLA in 1970 where he established himself as a dominant running back, eventually landing him contracts on teams in both the NFL and CFL (Canadian Football League). He was inducted into RCC’s Hall of Fame in 2019.
Marvin’s passion for football is only outshined by his love for his family, friends, and faith. He married longtime partner Joanne Clark on February 14, 2014. His endearing personality and care for others found him friends in all corners of life. He was most proud of his children and enjoyed spending time with his many family members and friends.
He is survived by his wife Joanne; children Heather (Troy), Tanya, Lorena (Edward), Terrence (Julie), Chad (Ashley), Mychal, Eric (Ally), and Danielle; siblings John, Roz, Debbie, Doris, Lois, Leroy, and Tony; and 13 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father John, mother Fostina, brother Rolando, and sister Dawn.
Marvin is remembered for his humorous spirit, endearing character, and deep love.
