Jack Harvey passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015, at his home in Ojai, CA, surrounded by his loving wife of 68 years, Norma (Schmidt), and his three children. He was born on August 31, 1925, the son of Walter and Rena (Scott) Harvey. Jack was the youngest boy of six children. He graduated from Fresno Tech in 1943, and received an Associates of Arts degree from Fresno City College, later in his life.
Jack served in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired after 32 years as a salesman, and then Manager of the Fresno Branch of The Pennzoil Company. He enjoyed golf, fifth wheel traveling, and many trips around the world with Norma. They lived in North Fork, CA, for ten years prior to moving to Ojai.
A proud member of our "Greatest Generation", Jack was loved for his tenderness towards his family, especially his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Jack was preceded in death by his then eight year old son Mark; and siblings, Glen, Alvin, Doris, Betty, and Barbara.
In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by his daughters, Linda Sorensen and husband Lol, and Jackie James and husband Fred; son, John Harvey and wife Ellie; five grandchildren, Kim Shea and husband Dave, Tim Buck and wife Marisa, Mike James and wife Melanie, Sean James and wife Debbie, and Melissa Beck and husband Daryl; six great-grandchildren; cousins; numerous nieces and nephews; and his special friend "Pepper."
Visitation will be held at Lisle Funeral Home on Thursday, January 29, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
A Graveside services will be held at Belmont Memorial Park Cemetery in Fresno, CA, on Friday, January 30, 2015, at 2:00 p.m.
