Jaime Rostro

Jaime was born on May 24, 1955, in Cuquío Jalisco, Mexico to Gregorio and Rafaela Rostro. He met his wife, Rita, in 2004, and they married on October 4, 2008. Together they loved Jaime’s son Michael and Rita’s sons, Michael and Sergio.

Jaime loved sports, reading, watching movies, and listening to music while smoking cigars. Jaime was an extremely hard worker. Growing up, he worked alongside his brothers and sisters on farms throughout Fresno County. He approached playing sports with the same tenacity. Jaime loved playing defensive back for the Central High Grizzlies (Class of 1973) football team, proudly wearing #37. After high school, Jaime attended California State University, Fresno and participated in an early outreach program for children who, like him, worked on farms within the Central Valley.

Jaime’s professional career began as a trackman for the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway Company, where he worked for 22 years. Jaime then worked as a big rig truck driver for Xpress Global Systems, retiring after 25 years of service.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gregorio and Rafaela Rostro.

Jaime is survived by his wife, Rita Rostro, his son Michael Rostro, and stepsons, Michael Pacheco and Sergio Escoto. He is also survived by his siblings and their spouses: Richard & Mari Rostro, Anthony Rostro, Rachel & Keith Lybarger, and Theresa Rostro. Jaime has five nieces and six nephews: Christine Baca, Natalie Kropp, Veronica Rostro, Nicole Rostro, Lisa Fowler, Nathan Rostro, David Rostro, Andrew Baca, Joseph Lybarger, Brian Rostro, and Eric Carr.

Visitation will be at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Thursday, July 14, 2022, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., followed by a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. We encourage guests attending the visitation to wear their favorite sports team jersey, t-shirt, or hat, to honor Jaime’s love of sports.

A Christian burial Mass will be held at the St. Mary Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church on Friday, July 15, 2022, at 9:30 a.m.
