A long-time Oakhurst resident and retired electrical contractor, Mr. Brooks was involved in many community activities, including the building of the Oakhurst Community Center. He served in the Royal Air Force as a bomber trainer during WWII, and became a U.S. citizen in 1952.
He enjoyed family, hunting, fishing, golfing and the Masonic Lodge where he became a 32nd degree Mason.
Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Mongo and his sister Margaret.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Frieda; daughters Kirstin Etherage and husband Joe of Belgium, Christine Lindley and husband Edward of Fresno; sons Andrew of Coarsegold, and Gordon and wife Karen of New Hampshire; and five grandsons.
A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 a.m., Aug. 26, at Whitehurst Funeral Chapel (1525 E. Saginaw Way, Fresno), followed by a Graveside Service 2 p.m., at Oakhill Cemetery in Oakhurst.
