I knew Jim as a good friend, and I will miss him terribly. But I can’t be sad for him, because I know he’s finally been released from the body that failed him for years—and because I know he’s with his Savior and his beloved Sheila. Of course, my heart goes out to his two sons, and I am sad for those of us who have to continue on without him. I will take solace in remembering the many good times and what a privilege it was to know him. He was a man of honor, passion, and good humor—a man who always had a smile and a kind word for everyone.

Jim was one of the finest patriots I’ve known. Even in the face of relentless criticism from the opposition, he never wavered from his principles. He was deeply passionate about his faith and his conservative beliefs, always focused on the Constitution and the founding principles of this country. His legacy—FreeRepublic.com—has long provided a forum, a “home on the Internet,” where conservatives around the world gather to discuss politics and current events.  He will be greatly missed, but he will live on through his legacy.

Wonderful evenings with Jim, Sheila, and the Central Valley FReepers. We gathered every Friday night for many, many months to support our troops. I believe this photo was taken during the Gulf War.

This photo was taken after dinner, following one of our rallies. Jim and Sheila—and everyone who attended—always enjoyed topping off the evening with dinner at a local restaurant. I will always remember those good times with Jim and some of the finest patriots in the Central Valley.

This was the first time I had met Jim at one of the TexasCowboy Memorial Shoots that was in Rockport, TX. Such a wonderful, kind and intelligent man.

Condonelnces to Jim's family, may God comfort them.  Those of us on FR miss Jim very much, but are glad he is free from suffering.  He is a conservative icon and hero, and the site he started, Free Republic, is the best conservative news and views site in the world.

Make sure to bury him with a single ice cube in his shirt pocket so he can keep cool with Charlie, Dick, and Ronnie

My sympathies and prayers for the Robinson family. Americans have lost a great patriot in Jim Robinson. His creation and shepherding of FreeRepublic gave voice to millions of like minded Americans who felt disenfranchised by their own government.  It was the beginning of a movement to citizen journalism, an earthquake in the traditional media whose effects are still being seen and felt today.  God bless you Jim, good and faithful servant.

Many knew Jim without ever meeting him in person. He left his mark on the world through his work to make this a free republic.  He never complained about his own situation, but always held his head high and continued forward. He is an inspiration in the way he maintained positive actions and a great attitude in his own life. It seemed like he would live forever. I thank him for his presence and his work. Countless people learned, shared, and coordinated their own lives and work through his website and his actions. Nothing is perfect in this world, but what he created allowed a us to make our world so much better. Thank you, Jim, and God bless.

I joined Jim's merry band of patriots in 1996 when I happened upon Free Republic, a forum of conservatives, libertarians, and a few liberals.  It was like finding a great home.  A home built by Jim Robinson.  Over the years, it was social media before social media with a full cast of characters that made a great story!

Jim was always a nice but firm guy as we were playing in the house he built.  He won't get the credit he deserves but man, those who played in his house, or knew him personally, know what a great man he was and the legacy he will leave.

I will pray for the repose of his soul and for grieving family, friends and the Free Republic community.  Jim - well done good and faithful servant!  You have fought the good fight and won.

My sincere condolences to the Robinson family.  I only knew Jim through FreeRepublic, but the sacrifice that he made to create a platform that God loving and God Fearing people could gather together has touched more lives than you may ever know.  I believe Jim was an example of:

It is no exageration to say my understanding to current events has been shaped through this diversely sourced news board.

I am greatly saddened by the passing of JimRob.

Through his freerepublic.com web site, he has been a pioneer in terms of getting conservative people together to discuss issues, to rally for good, and to rise up against the occasional evil that exists in our world.

I've been a member of that forum for around 25 years - JimRob has always been a steady beacon that kept the site on focus, and friendly.

For his efforts, he will be missed. But not just his efforts - he was genuine, he served his country in the Navy and again as a civilian through the web site. 

Jim will be missed, but know that he is no longer dealing with pain and the ailments of life - he is with our Lord Jesus having served his fellow man and having been a good soldier in the struggle of life.

So sorry to hear of Jim’s death. The passing into eternity, especially those who are younger than I, is always difficult. From the testimonies Jim shared and his kind and compassionate ways I am encouraged to know that “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” for every believer. Though saddened by his passing, I rejoice in the truth of God’s Word.

I extend my sincere condolences to each of Jim’s loved ones and trust for God’s richest blessing and comfort and peace for their loss.

It is an old habit of mine to say to folks, “your loved one is not lost when you know where he/she is”. I trust that is a comfort to you as well..

Jim’s legacy of FRee Republic will stand for a very long time among the memories of thousands of patriotic Americans. From a 30 year “real old corps” US Marine to a faithful Navy veteran, I salute the contributions and memories of Jim Robinson.

First heard about Jim and Free Republic from a candidate I was working for in April 1998. Eye opening indeed to see actual truth being posted in competition with the MSM.

Jim was the Founder of Free Republic, a site where conservative thought flourishes.  I feel like I've lost my friend of 28 years.

He was a great man, who did so much for the country through his advocacy and efforts. You and your family are in our prayers for comfort and peace. He’s in a better place in the comfort of our Lord.

Jim will be sorely missed. He was a trailblazer in the early days of the internet, setting the gold standard for online conservative discussion. A lot of people met and made like-minded friends on Free Republic.

I’m glad I got to “meet” him when FRiend Flyer (R.I.P.) got me dialed in from Baghdad when the FR Chapter to which I belonged (HAT in Houston) was hosting a barbecue with Jim and Sheila as the guests of honor.

I had the great honor of meeting Jim Robinson in 2008. It was in DC at our FR gatherings for the
District of Columbia v. Heller case.

I am extremely grateful for JR and all he has done for us and our Country.

He is a True American Patriot.
His contributions are historic and continue on.

Jim Robinson changed the course of this nation. From a wheelchair, he altered our national trajectory, and for the better. His legacy, Free Republic, was a forum frequented by the most passionate Patriots and often featured the presence of important conservative figures.

I’ll miss his gruff “Knock it off!”, I’ll miss his stoic wisdom, I’ll miss his resolve and personal fortitude.

God rest your soul, Jim. You have done well, good and faithful servant.
