Those who knew JJ will remember, above all, how deeply he loved his people. Family and friends were at the center of his world, and he had a steady way of showing up with warmth and care—often paired with a well-timed joke that could break tension and bring a room back to laughter. In the everyday moments, in the check-ins, and in the way he made others feel seen, JJ left a mark that will be carried forward by everyone who loved him.
JJ worked as a chef for a restaurant for eight years, bringing dedication to his work and pride in what he did. Outside of work, he poured himself into the things that made him feel most alive. He was a hobby musician, he loved video games, and he was also in training for MMA fighting. Music, though, was hands down his favorite—he even made his own rap songs, and he was known for singing long karaoke songs that turned into unforgettable moments with the people around him. And for anyone who thinks of him and immediately thinks of color, they’re not wrong—JJ loved the color purple.
JJ is survived by his mother, Jennie Nava; his father, Jason Meza Domingo; his sisters, Alexis and Alisha; and his little brother, James.
A Memorial Service will be held at People’s Church in the Main Sanctuary, located at 7172 N Cedar Avenue, Fresno, California, 93720, on August 20, 2026, starting at 11:00 am.
JJ’s family would like to extend their thanks to everyone who has reached out to offer their love, support, and donations to give JJ the proper sendoff that he deserved.
