Gem was born in New York City, NY on November 23, 1983. He was the first born son of Jerome and Lilia Asuncion.
Gem loved music and art. He had a way of understanding rhythm and sound and loved sharing his knowledge with loved ones around him. His passion for music led him to study at Expression College in Emeryville, CA where he graduated and earned his Bachelors of Science in Audio Engineering. Gem also had a love for the natural world. He loved being outdoors and exploring new places. During his time living on the west coast, Gem found a community that shared similar interests and still had the charm of a big city. It was a community that he loved and in turn loved him back.Though Gem flourished in California, he was always a New York City boy at heart.
Gem is survived by his 5 children Francesca, Lauryn, Elias, Isla, and Charlene. Gem will always be remembered as a man who fought to provide the world and anything he could for his kids.
Gem will be remembered for his strength and passion to always fight for what he believed in and the endless love he carried for his family.
Visitation for Gem will be on January 3rd, 2022 from 4-7 pm with a rosary at 7pm. His Funeral service will be held January 4th, 2022 at 10 am at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home. Donations could be made at https://gofund.me/552e48d3
