Words cannot expressly how deeply the family cherished our dear Mother. To her children she was the very best of Mothers and of People, as fine as they come over time and country. She was an ever loving, ever warm hearted best friend, trusted confidante, first cheer leader and sage to all of us, and the glue of the family through all our days.
As saddened as we are to lose her, we are so very glad and grateful to have had her all these years, and for the long and fulfilling life she lived, so full of love, laughter, and joy richly shared.
In Memoriam -- Jerrie was born May 24, 1934 in Chickasha Oklahoma to Marion and Ben Hill. In 1952, while attending nursing school at Oklahoma University, Jerrie met Robert Peters, then a Marine up from Ft. Sill for the evening. Bob and Jerrie married in 1954 and moved to Los Angeles. Jerrie finished nursing school at UCLA and worked as a surgical nurse while Bob attended UCLA Medical School and they had their three kids.
In 1965 the family moved to Fresno. Jerrie became a professional artist, earning her Masters in Art History from Fresno State. For over 40 years she produced her unique creations in many different media, focusing on the beauty of nature. She participated in countless art shows and was deeply and happily involved with the Fresno Art Museum and Gallery 25.
Jerrie loved this town and her many Dear Friends here and around the country. She welcomed into her home every neighborhood kid or buddy the family could muster. She and Bob loved family weekends at Huntington Lake and Cambria, and longer trips when they could. They traveled the world together after the kids went off to college.
Jerrie married the love of her life and had over 60 wonderful years with Bob. She raised three adoring children to happy lives of their own and had 12 loving years helping raise her two grandchildren. She was hale and hearty to her last day and passed on with her family at her side, to be reunited with her Beloved.
Jerrie was preceded by husband Robert Peters, and is survived by her daughters Lisa and Bari, son Paul and daughter-in-law Paddy and grandchildren Evan and Piper.
We keenly feel that the world is a lesser place without Jerrie. But we take heart knowing her strong spirit will find its way, and that she is with our beloved Father right now, sharing those broad smiles and their love – one for the ages -- that sustained us all.
