

Joan Marie Coulston, age 68 of Fresno, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, December 11, 2012. She was born to the late Giovanni Garbarino and Theresa Garbarino on January 9, 1944 in Fresno.
Joan graduated from Bullard High in 1961. After marrying at 23, she became a homemaker. She continued to reside in Fresno while raising three children who also graduated from Bullard High. Joan was the ideal mother; constantly present and involved in her children's scholastic and sports lives. Their friends were welcomed and taken care of in her home. She surrounded herself with friends and family who adored her. Joan lived for family and was known as Nana to her nine grandchildren.
Her loving and nurturing ways will be greatly missed.
Joan is survived by her three children, Julie Phillips and husband Dave of San Rafael, California, their children Joey 9, Jack 6, and Willie 6; son, Billy Coulston and wife Michelle of Laguna Niguel, California and their children, Charlie 6, Chloe 5, and Henry 4; and son, Steve Coulston and wife Suzanne of Laguna Hills, California and their children, Nina 6, Emerson 4, and Malani 3. Also surviving are sister, Carolyn Scambray and husband Gene Scambray of Fresno; niece, Dina Scambray of Fresno; and nephew John Scambray and wife Stacey of Folsom, California and their three daughters.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Monday, December 17, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary and a Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, 11:00 a.m.
