I cry when I think of you gone.  It breaks my heart that you suffered so.  God placed you on this earth so that we could have a glimpse of Christs heart.  God is good, and I know without a doubt that he has said of you 'Well done good and faithful servant'.   Tio I miss you and will always hold you dear to me.  Thank you for being such a wonderful person and the best Tio anyone could ask for.  Beijinhos until we meet again.

Estas flores sao muito especias para mim, porque durante as primavera, todas as semanas me apalhavas um ramo destes jaros tao lindos....Que muito vou estranhar! Ate um dia que me espere com um ramo na sua mao.

It has been over 4 months now, it still seems as if it can't be real. Reality hits me when I look towards your house, I no longer see you sitting in the garage waving as I pass by or standing with some freshly picked flowers. You never knew that those days had been difficult work days for me and the flowers you handed me lifted my spirits.  I have missed Zelinda and you so very much.  One day we will meet again and I look forward to seeing smiles on both of your faces.  I thank God that upon your retirement it was right next door to me that you chose to live. He knew that we would need each other.  And so our friendship grew over the years. Especially as circumstances in my life changed, I noticed the things you did to lighten my load. How you kept a watchful eye over my home to ensure that I would be safe.  There were numerous kind and thoughtful things you did.  I remember all the times we worked together on home projects. We laughed as our "supervisor" came on sight to check on us. Although your words were few, they were always sincere and straight from your heart. Thank you for your friendship, your loving care and thoughtfulness, many wonderful memories and your kindness to my father who would soon leave this world as well. I miss you dear friend. Give Zelinda and my Daddy a big hug and kiss for me.

Meu pai, the last two weeks together were the most difficult to watch.. Watching you feeling and being helpless, changing so drastically from one day to the next. Yet, I will always treasure so deeply all that we shared!!!!

As I held your hand and admired it...You were unconscious... your hand could no longer hold back.  I remembered how strong these hands  once were and how hard they had labored. Not knowing how much longer I'd have with you, I felt the need to hold on to this memory. It  came to me that I must take  a photo  holding my fathers hand, not realizing  that  in a couple of hours you  would be parting from me....................................Que saudades meu Pai

Meu pai era um homen com muito amor e carinho no seu coracao. Um homen que nunca cramava.

My father was a quite and humble man. He was a man of few words but when he spoke he spoke genuinely from the heart.
He endured his struggles in a quiite way. He was a very simple, considerate and patient man. He also had a very witty and funny side about him.  A sence of humor that always made people laugh, even when he wasn't feeling well. 
My father enjoyed gardening, growing his vegetable, fruits and flowers. He demonstrated his love by giving in a simple but touching way.
I will miss the fresh bouquet of cala lilys that he would have waiting for me when I'd come over. I will miss the delicious figs and arasais that he'd save for me. But most of all what I will miss Is being with him.
 
Many times after a long and exausting Doctor appointments with mom and dad, when dropping them off, he would rush to his garden, fill a bag with his labor of love, pick a carnation and hand it to me.... I would take that pink carnation, breath the sweet scent and place it on my car visor, drive away and feel the love that this man had in his heart.
As I saw our father my father wither away from his Illness so did his garden, since he no longer could care for it... It was so hard to watch and accept that our dad would be leaving us soon. I begged God for a miracle...At times I felt a sense of peace as I watched white butterflies flutter thru his garden.

Dear dad, I want you to know that you were out hero, our protector, our teacher. You are our father and we thank you for all the sacrifices you made for us.. Coming to an unknown country to better our lives.. I miss you here on earth but have the hope to hang on to, to one day see you again on a new journey...Please don't forget to welcome me with a flower in your hand and that beautiful garden.

Your grandkids, how you loved them. They are fine boys and will make you proud. Even though you cannot be here with them to see them thru or hug them, you are watching over them from above and smiling. You have left with them a legacy and stories to pass on... Justin, Eric and Elijah love and miss you so much and you will always be in their heart. Elijah wants you to know that he will tend to the tomatoes you so well cared for.
Don't worry about mom and your neighbor Fatima. We will watch over them and play sueca in your memory.

Thank you pai for being the loving father, grandfather, husband and friend that you were. We love you with all of our heart and soul.

Nos seus ultimos dias, ele olho para mim e disse; tenhas paz e alegria.  (On his last days he looked at me and said; have peace and joy). I will meu pai.

Thank you God, for granting my father with the Miracle......................THE MIRACLE OF HEAVEN.

Ill miss you forever. Ill miss the time we spent with each other. Like when we went to the dairy to get stuff for your plants. Ill also miss when you kept care of me when i was sick or hungry. I will love you forever, your grandson Justin

Dear Avo,
             I love you very much. I loved sitting and talking with you and you were wise at everything. You loved everyone in the family and i know you want everyone to make the right choices. I know you will be watching over us and I love you very much. I hope you're glade up there with grandma, your friends, your parents and your brothers/sisters. I'll see you up there soon.

I love you avo! I used to plant tomatoes and vegetables with him. When he died I  promised to take over the job of caring for the garden. I will miss planting tomatoes with you.  When you died avo, I came to your funeral and the priest said that your are not in pain anymore and that you are in a safe place.
