Joe Silverio "Joe" Chavez

Joseph S. Chavez, beloved father, grandfather and great- grandfather, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at the age of 73. Born in Warren, MT, on September 10, 1941. Joe worked for General Cable in Sanger, CA for 35 years. He was a dedicated Chief Shop Steward and President for Local UE District 1014. Joe was proud to have served his country as a soldier of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Joe was a loyal Oakland Raiders football fan. Joe extended unconditional love and compassion to all who came across his path and will be missed by many whose lives he touched. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Esperanza Chavez; his three children, Bernadette Zapata and her husband Frank, Joe A. Chavez and his wife Karen, and Anita Cervantes and her husband Alfonso; his grandchildren, Alexis, Kayla, Tiffany, Yazmine, Alissia, Crystal, Katelyn, Deija, Alfonso, Megan, Esperanza, Joseph, and Kai; and great-grandchildren, Christine and Sadie. Visitation will be held at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Monday, May 18, 2015, from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m., followed by a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony Mary Claret Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at 10:00 a.m.
