He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Felipa; and his granddaughter Victoria Ann.
He is survived by his children Teresa Ortiz, Joe Jr., and John; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns and Blair Funeral Home on Monday, March 22, 2010, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony Mary Claret Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at St. Peters' Cemetery.
