John joined the U.S. Navy in 1942, and rose to the rank of Bosun First Class. He later married Donaldine "Donna" Lamping in San Francisco in 1947. Their only child, Darlene was born one year later. After Donna's untimely death in 1963, John returned to the sea and service, working as a Merchant Seaman.
He is survived by his daughter, Darlene Ferreira Neeley of Clovis; and grandchildren, John Neeley of Clovis, Michelle Neeley Cobb of Clovis and Jennifer Neeley Lindsay of San Francisco; as well as one brother, David Ferreira of Reseda.
A Graveside Service will be held at Clovis Cemetery on Tuesday September 28, 2010, at 2:00 p.m.
