John "Bear" Freitas, passed away at his home in Clovis, Ca. on Sunday, March 18, 2012, at the age of 73, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 18, 1938, in Oakland, Ca. Bear was a very proud husband, father and grandfather who gave his all to the family and his country by serving in the US Army.
Most of his working career was spent in the manufacturing industry as a Maintenance Manager. In his later years, Bear bought and operated the American Oak Shop with his wife Nancy, fulfilling his love for antiques and woodworking. There was nothing he could not fix or build with his hands.
John is survived by Nancy, his wife of 55 years; his son John Jr. and his wife Rose; his daughter Jennifer and her husband John; his son Jeff and his wife Tracy; and his grandkids, John, Courtney, Shelby, Ashley, Jenessa and Cole.
Instead of flowers, Bear preferred your thoughtfulness be directed to the Ameri- can Cancer Society.
