Jorge Luis Mendez

Born on August 10, 1982, Jorge was a Fresno, California native whose life was marked by steady effort, quick wit, and a generosity that showed up in everyday ways—especially in how readily he made room for others.

From his early years, Jorge carried himself with energy and drive. He attended Roosevelt High School, where he played football and competed on the wrestling team—two arenas that reflected the determination and work ethic he would keep throughout his life.

For the last 20 years, Jorge built his career in the auto sales industry. He was known for always pushing forward, always learning, and always striving to better himself. Behind that ambition was a sharp mind and a deep sense of responsibility—someone who worked hard not for recognition, but because it was simply how he lived.

Jorge’s joy was easy to find in the things he loved. Sports were a constant, especially football and the 49ers. He also loved concerts and live music, and his favorite bands—Sublime, Foo Fighters, and the Wu Tang Clan—were part of the soundtrack of his life.

More than anything, Jorge loved people. He enjoyed meeting someone new and had a rare ease about him that could turn any stranger into a friend. He took pride in sharing what he knew, offering insight and laughter in equal measure, and giving of himself without keeping score. Jorge wanted to be remembered as smiling and joyful—and those who knew him will remember exactly that: a bright presence, a clever sense of humor, and a heart that stayed open.

Jorge was preceded in death by his father, Pedro Antonio Méndez. He is survived by his daughter, Kara Watts-Mendez, and his son, Nolan Carter.

A Memorial Service will be held at Spanish Church of the Nazarene, located at 4718 E Yale Avenue, Fresno, California 93703, on July 18, 2026, starting at 3:00pm. All who knew and loved Jorge are welcomed to attend.
