Jose Arteaga, born on June 22, 1979, to Gilberto and Estela Arteaga in Apatzingan, Michoacán, leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication to those around him. He is survived by his parents and siblings: Pablo, Beto, Valentin, Julia, Esteban, Lupe, his twin brother Pedro, brothers Gilbert, Juan and Roberto, and his baby sister Blanca. Jose was also deeply cherished by his many nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends, all residing in Fresno. His life was made even brighter by his devoted spouse, Alex Salazar, with whom he built a joyful life filled with love and laughter.
For nearly 25 years, Jose served as a nurse, dedicating his career to caring for others with compassion and grace. Sadly, he passed away on Thursday, October 17, surrounded by his loved ones, who had the chance to visit him and share their final moments together.
Jose and Alex’s love story began on December 18, 2008, when they met through mutual friends. Just a few days later, they had their first date and quickly became inseparable. On May 28, 2022, they celebrated their love in a magical wedding surrounded by family and friends. Jose was the heart of every gathering, always singing, dancing, and radiating joy. His passions included karaoke, tending to plants, enjoying the outdoors, and taking family trips in the RV he and Alex shared. His love also extended to their beloved dogs, Leah, Jacob, Thor, and Ashley.
Jose had a gift for making friends wherever he went, creating unique nicknames for everyone, and sending long, humorous text messages that always let his friends and family know he was thinking of them. Though he might have missed a phone call or two, those messages were his way of keeping the connection alive. His sense of humor was unmatched, and his love for pineapple upside-down cake is one of the many details that will bring smiles to those who knew him.
Jose was a remarkable soul, full of love, laughter, and a deep connection to everyone he encountered. His absence leaves a profound void, but his memory will forever be cherished by those whose lives he touched. Please join Alex, his family, and friends in celebrating Jose’s life and honoring the joy, love, and kindness he brought into the world.
