After 75 years of marriage, his beloved wife Rufina passed away at the age of 90.
Jose and Rufina raised their children to have good work ethics and recognize the importance of family. Jose worked and loved agricultural it was a large part of his life. When Jose retired, he continued to volunteer at St. Anthony Mary Claret Church. Jose and Rufina would both visit the sick and pray for them. His faith is what gave him strength during his life. Jose also enjoyed working with his hands, constructing items from his home, and tending to his garden. He loved to watch his cactuses grow. Jose found a new hobby of making rosaries and gave many away. Jose was a carpenter at heart; he made kneelers for prayer. He enjoyed going on rides to see the agricultural land reminding him of his youth. Jose love for sports was passed on to his children such as boxing and baseball. Jose and Rufina also traveled to Europe to visit Rome, Italy, Medjugorje and Jerusalem.
Jose was surrounded by his family who loved and cared for him. His grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him great joy.
Jose lived the words of Proverbs 16:31 “Gray hair is a crown of splendor: it is attained in the way of the righteous”. The love for his faith not only impacted his family but also the community that he dearly loved.
Visitation will be held at St. Anthony Mary Claret Church, 2494 S Chestnut Ave, Fresno, CA 93725, US, on August 20, 2026, at 6:00 pm. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will follow at St. Anthony Mary Claret Church on August 20, 2026, at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony Mary Claret Church on August 21, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Committal will take place at Belmont Memorial Park, 201 N Teilman Ave, Fresno, CA 93706, US, on August 21, 2026, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Pallbearers will be Juan Gonzalez, Efren Gonzalez, Jesse Frank Gonzalez, Jose Luis Gonzalez, Peter Gonzalez, Salvador Gonzalez, Martin Gonzalez, Jesse Gonzalez, Angel Gonzalez, and Amador Gonzalez. Honorary pallbearers will be Alex Gonzalez and Maria Elena Lopez.
