Jose Manuel Martinez

Jose was born to Rueben and Maria Martinez on April 23, 1971, in Tulare, Ca. He graduated from Tulare Union High School in 1990 where he participated in football and wrestling. After high school, Jose moved to Fresno and attended California State University, Fresno from which he graduated in 1995. Jose married his college sweet heart, Melissa, on November 10, 2001.

Jose was a dedicated Firefighter, first employed with Fresno County Cal Fire, then continued and advanced his career with the San Jose Fire Department. Jose's hard work ethic and dedication to the SJFD was received and returned when he was promoted to the rank of Engineer in 2004 and Captain in June of 2011.

Jose was truly admired for his devotion to his family and the love he had for Melissa, his son Jonah, and his twin daughters Olivia and Sophia. Jose was a gentleman and his loyalty to his friends was apparent. Jose had a giving, sincere and vibrant personality. He made everyone feel as if they were his best friend.

Jose, without a doubt, will be missed by all who have had the opportunity to know him. If you look to the skies, you will see Jose watching over you with his impeccable smile.

Jose leaves behind his wife Melissa; three beautiful children, Jonah (age eight), Olivia and Sophia (three weeks); parents, Rueben and Maria; brothers, Martin and Ruben; and sisters, Rosie and Julie.

Visitation will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, on Thursday August 16, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Friday, August 17, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Clovis Cemetery.
