Jose Antonio Regil

In loving memory of Jose Antonio Regil (Tony), born June 12, 1939, in Bilbao, Spain, and who passed away on July 18, 2024, in Fresno, California. Tony was predeceased by his parents, Antonio Regil and Margarita Olalde, as well as his loving younger brother, Javier Regil.

Tony was a passionate chef whose culinary journey spanned Europe and beyond. His service in the Spanish Foreign Legion and subsequent work in the Merchant Marines led him to the United States, where he moved his family to seek a better life.

In 1970, Tony settled in Chicago, working tirelessly to provide for his family and eventually establishing himself as an Executive Chef at Northmoor Country Club. He later found happiness with Socorro Vasques, with whom he shared 33 years of love and adventure.

Tony is survived by his wife Socorro, children: Aitor (Shannon), Onintza (Enrique), Joseba (Valerie), Koldo (Alicia), and grandchildren: Chase, Samantha, Amanda, Victoria, Matthew, and Michael. Nephews include: Egoitz (Gurutze) and Galder (Eider), their children: Ekain, Danel, Endika, Xabier and Ariane. His legacy of love, resilience, and patriotism will be cherished forever. His spirit lives on in all of us. We love you Dad!
