

Josephine was born in San Bernardino, Ca. on November 19, 1916, to John and Frances Mainvil, and passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at the age of 95. She graduated from Chaffey High School and attending Chaffey College, in Ontario Ca., until she began working in the school business office. After 14-1/2 years, she married John Arriet in 1950 moving to Fresno. She farmed near Kearney Park for 35 years. John passed away in 1976
Josephine's passion for the Basque Culture was evident by her activity in the Fresno Basque Club from its founding in 1978, and as a Fresno delegate to the North American Basque Organizations from 1982 until 2010. Josephine loved promoting the sheep industry as a member of the California and local Woolgrowers Auxil- iaries since 1960. She was a member of U.P.P.E.C., Catholic Daughters of America and St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and School community. She enjoyed watching sporting events, especially those of her grandsons.
Josephine is survived by her daughter, Kathy Chicoine and her husband Larry; brother, John Mainvil and his wife Grace; grandchildren Brett Habar and his wife Melissa, Phillip and Jonathan Habar, Erika Peterson and her husband Erik, and Andy Fidelibus and her husband Matt; great-grandchildren, Grace Habar and Leah and Reid Peterson; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Sunday, June 3, 2012, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on Monday, June 4, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
