Juan M. Rodriguez

May 24, 1923November 23, 2016

Juan Macias Rodriguez was born on May 24, 1923, in Maricopa, California, and on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at the age of 93, entered into eternal rest in Fresno, CA. During his early years, he was raised in Fresno County and vicinity. In 1930, the family returned to Ocampo, Guanajuato, Mexico, when his father was not able to find employment due to economic conditions. He married Maria de Jesus Rosales of La Haciendita, Guanajuato, Mexico, in 1942. In 1945, he returned to Texas and raised his family. In 1958, he moved his family to California and became a resident of Mendota, CA. Juan worked as a foreman at Coit Ranch and also for Stamoules Ranch. Juan was a good natured man of deep faith and a devout Catholic. He and his wife, Maria de Jesus, taught their children to attend church on Sundays and on holy days of obligation. On the day before he passed away, he recognized everyone present and gave each one a personal blessing. He loved to play his guitar at church and family gatherings. He would call his children on the day of their birthdays playing his guitar and singing Las Mañanitas accompanied by his wife and his oldest daughter Juanita. He kept up with current events by watching news and loved to listen to Mexican music. He loved to watch the sport of boxing. He also taught his children the importance of voting which he did every election. Juan valued education and instilled that value in his children. He loved to work in his yard and made sure it was free of weeds. In his later years, he was not able to do yardwork because of his health and he missed working in his yard. Juan was preceded in death by his parents, Magdaleno and Petra (Macias) Rodriguez of Ocampo, Guanajuato, Mexico; siblings, Benigno, Pedro and Lupe; grandchildren, John James Coursey and Cynthia Maria Jurado. He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Maria de Jesus Rodriguez; his nine children, Juanita Coursey, Teresa West and husband Tom, Antonio Rodriguez and wife Marta C., Margaret Ellis and husband Dave, Graciela Rodriguez, Virginia Rodriguez, Victoria Rodriguez and husband Carlos Camino, Sylvia Rodriguez-Wodyka and husband Mark S., and Jose L. Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday Dearest Dad, Happy Birthday to you.
Celebrating your birthday has always been such a joyous occasion. The "Happy" memories are what I will remember and treasure and will continue to celebrate with you, till we see each other again. Now you are with Cynthia, your granddaughter, and as you were preparing to leave this world, she was waiting for her "Grandpa. Now she has her Grandpa to hold and share hugs and kisses and this brings me such bitter sweet happiness. I know this is how life is, but it still hurts deeply. Pray for us, Dad and guide us.
Dad, I remember the good times and all our laughter. I love you, Dad. I love you, Dad. I love you, Dad.
Hugs and many kisses,
Mage

Dad, today a year ago you were laid to rest. I miss you Dad and a day does not go by that I do not think of you. I wish that you were here with us but I recognize that as every day goes by we are the ones that are getting closer to your universe. One thing that gives me comfort is that you are resting in peace and are in the company of other relatives that have left us. I love you Dad, lo estraño Apá.

Hace un año, Apá
They say time is the great healer of the heart...
....maybe...but I say it's more that time allows opportunity for reflection and acceptance.
Periodically a sadness will surface when I least expect it - but now I feel a greater joy that you are at peace and in heaven.
Apá, gracias for your life's lessons that continue to touch my life's perspectives.
I miss you... I love you...ésta conmigo siempre..
su hija,
Silvita
