Juan passed away peacefully at his home on August 19th, 2024 at the age of 85. He was born on July 6th, 1939 to Jose Rodriguez and Guadalupe Martinez in the city of Teúl de González Ortega in Zacatecas, Mexico. Juan began playing music at a young age and learned to play the guitar, vihuela and guitarrón. He arrived in the United States in 1966 where he played with many mariachis before starting his own group Mariachi Nuevo Zapopan in the 70’s . Even after “retiring” he continued to play with many mariachis in the area.
He was preceded in death by his father Jose, mother Guadalupe, as well as, his brothers Jose and Adalberto. He is survived by his wife of almost 51 years Victoria, his son Sergio Lopez, his daughters Juanita Polidoro, Andrea Rodriguez-Hernandez, Gloria Rodriguez-Navarro, his 8 grandchildren, his great grandchildren and brothers Primitivo and Manuel.
The family would like to thank Dr. Katherine Flores, family practitioner, Dr. Steven B. Levy, Nephrologist, Dr. Donald W. Gregory, cardiologist, Dr. Narayana S. Ambati, Urologist, Valley Home Health, DaVita Jensen Avenue Dialysis, and Bristol Hospice Care for providing care and supporting our father.

Juan falleció pacíficamente en su casa el 19 de agosto de 2024 a la edad de 85 años. Nació el 6 de julio de 1939, hijo de José Rodríguez y Guadalupe Martínez en la ciudad de Teúl de González Ortega en Zacatecas, México. Juan comenzó a tocar música desde muy joven y aprendió a tocar la guitarra, la vihuela y el guitarrón. Llegó a los Estados Unidos en 1966 donde tocó con muchos mariachis antes de comenzar su propio grupo Mariachi Nuevo Zapopan en los años 70. Incluso después de “retirarse” continuó tocando con muchos mariachis en el área.
Fue precedido en muerte por su padre José, su madre Guadalupe, y sus hermanos José y Adalberto. Le sobreviven su esposa de casi 51 años Victoria, su hijo Sergio López, sus hijas Juanita Polidoro, Andrea Rodríguez-Hernández, Gloria Rodríguez-Navarro, 8 nietos, sus bisnietos y hermanos Primitivo y Manuel.
