Karina Saavedra, age 40, passed away on June 24, 2026, in Fresno, California. Born on April 10, 1986, in San Jose, California, Karina was raised in Sanger, where she developed the vibrant personality, compassionate heart, and unwavering faith that would define her life. After graduating from high school, she pursued a career in healthcare by earning her Associate's Degree as a Medical Assistant, reflecting her lifelong desire to care for and help others.
Above all else, Karina was a loving mother to her precious daughter, Arabella Levia Smith, who was the greatest joy of her life. She loved her daughter fiercely and unconditionally, and nothing brought her greater happiness than being Arabella's mom. Karina was also a devoted daughter, beloved sister, and loyal friend whose love for her family knew no bounds.
Karina had an extraordinary gift for connecting with people. She had a presence that naturally drew others in, and when she spoke, people listened. She led with honesty, compassion, and conviction, making everyone she met feel seen, heard, and valued. Her deep-rooted faith in God was the foundation of her life, guiding her through both life's greatest blessings and its most difficult challenges. She found purpose in lifting others up, offering encouragement, and reminding those around her that hope could always be found.
A true creative at heart, Karina proudly called herself a fashionista and designer. She loved expressing herself through fashion and believed that how you carried yourself was another form of art. Her creativity extended beyond clothing—she viewed her body as a canvas, with every tattoo telling a meaningful story of her life, experiences, and personal journey. Each one represented a memory, a lesson, or a chapter that shaped the woman she became.
Those who knew Karina will remember her adventurous spirit, spontaneous nature, infectious laughter, and fearless personality. She embraced life wholeheartedly and loved deeply, leaving lasting impressions everywhere she went. She also shared an extraordinary bond with her father, Jorge Saavedra Sr., who preceded her in death in 2016. A true Daddy's Girl, Karina often spoke of the unconditional love, guidance, and strength he gave her. His memory remained close to her heart, and she carried his love with her throughout her life.
Karina is lovingly survived by her daughter, Arabella Levia Smith; her mother, Margarita Saavedra; her brothers, Jorge Saavedra Jr. and Luis Felipe Saavedra; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by her unwavering love. She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Jorge Saavedra Sr., in 2016.
Although Karina's life was far too short, she lived it with passion, courage, and authenticity. She taught those around her the importance of loving deeply, embracing individuality, and never being afraid to be yourself. Her laughter, compassion, creativity, and beautiful spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Our family would like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has surrounded us with love, prayers, support, and kindness during this incredibly difficult time. The outpouring of compassion from friends, family, and our community has brought us comfort beyond words. As we celebrate Karina's life, we ask that you continue to keep our family—especially her beloved daughter, Arabella—in your thoughts and prayers. Though Karina is no longer with us, her love, faith, strength, and beautiful spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
