

Karl Raymond Scharer passed away at the age of 80 on Tuesday, April 19, 2011. Karl was born in Fresno on January 22, 1931, the youngest of 13 children born to August and Anna Scharer of Straub, Russia. He graduated from Central Union High School and then joined the U. S. Air Force. Karl was stationed in Guam while serving in the Korean War. In 1960, Karl married the love of his life, Mary Jane Morris. He worked as an electrician for Arrow Electric Motor Service for 36 years. Karl was also a raisin grower in the Easton area. He was a committed family man who instilled a sense of honesty and a strong work ethic in his children and grandchildren. He was known for his green thumb, wry sense of humor, and uncanny ability to relate to animals. If anything was broken, he could fix it. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, August; and mother, Anna; brothers Albert, August, Harry, John, and William; and sisters Annie, Helen, Lydia, Marie, Millie, and Mollie.
He is survived by Mary Jane, his beloved wife of 50 years; daughter Janell and her husband Dave Brett; daughter Aimee and her husband Mark Miculian; grandchildren Karly and Carson Brett, and Claire and Grace Miculian; sister Gladys Myers; sister-in-law, Lucinda Scharer; sister-in-law, Lana and her husband Chuck Volpa; and many nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by his doggies, Curly and Moe.
Visitation will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel, in Fresno on Monday, April 25, 2011, from 4:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m.
A Graveside Service will be held at the Fowler District Ceme- tery on April 26, 2011, at 11:00 a.m.
Remembrances may be made to the donors favorite charity.
