Larry Dean Edde, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, veteran, and businessman, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026, at the age of 79, surrounded by his wife and children.
Born July 12, 1946, in Redlands, California, to Joe and Eleanor Edde. Larry was shaped by ambition, loyalty, humor, and an unwavering commitment to family. He had a gift for connection; wherever he went, he left behind laughter, stories, and lifelong friendships.
While attending high school in Riverdale, he met the love of his life, Carol Coelho. Engaged in 1969, they shared 56 years of devoted marriage, building a life grounded in faith, partnership, and deep love.
Larry proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War with the 101st Airborne Division “Screaming Eagles,” carrying his service with quiet humility. He went on to build a respected career in the insurance industry as a businessman and investor, earning trust not only for his work ethic but for the genuine relationships he maintained for decades.
Larry and Carol shared a love of travel, from fishing adventures in Alaska and visits to Europe to meaningful pilgrimages to Lourdes, Fatima, Medjugorje, and the Holy Land. Yet his greatest joy was his family. For over 35 years, the Edde family gathered in Sunriver, Oregon where Larry coined the beloved phrase, “Sunriver, No Wimps.” Those trips were marked by fishing, bike rides for ice cream, floats down the Deschutes River, and the happy chaos of everyone together under one roof.
An avid hunter and passionate fly fisherman, Larry felt most at peace outdoors, casting a line and ending the day with stories among those he loved.
He will be remembered for his unmistakable laughter, love of storytelling, steadfast loyalty, and the fierce love he had for his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol; his children Ryan (Wendy), Tara (Chuck), Brittany (Randy), Matt (Suzanne), and John (Jenna); fifteen cherished grandchildren; Madason, Braden, Neil, Gabi, Luke, Jack, Brody, Paige, Stella, Reagan, Kylie, Ford, Finley, Weston, and Walker; and his brothers Don (Sandi) Edde and Greg Edde.
Though his family mourns his passing, they take comfort in the promise of eternal life. They believe he is now hearing the words he earned through a lifetime of love and faithfulness “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:23. Larry’s journey on earth has ended but his life continues in the presence of the Lord he loved so dearly.
