Laura Lynn Mitchell
March 20, 1965 – March 14, 2021
Laura Mitchell was the fourth and youngest child of Grant and Monica Mitchell of Fresno. She passed away on Sunday March 14, 2021. She had a challenging life, dealing with Down’s Syndrome and other health issues. She needed special care throughout her life, which her mother provided until 1997, when she passed away. Her father Grant, and step-mother, Doris Mitchell, continued to care for her for many years. In recent years, she was cared for by the staff at Harmony Homes, whom she loved very much and bonded with.
She communicated with smiles, laughter, and could let you know her displeasure with a healthy yell if she wanted to get her point across. She loved the people in her life, she loved music, marbles, and took comfort in her daily routine.
She is survived by her father, Charles Grant Mitchell, step-mother, Doris Mitchell, brothers, Steve Mitchell of Coarsegold, and David Mitchell of Fresno, sister, Teri Terry of Fresno, and sister Tammy Dupras of Fresno. Laura was aunt to Adam, Chris and Kevin Mitchell, Jonalyn Buhr, Stephanie Mitchell, Justin Williams, Jake Dupras and Bear Dupras. She was great aunt to Gavin, Caden, Saxon and Emma. She was preceded in death by her mother, Monica Mitchell, her Great Aunt McMullen “Auntie Mick”, her grandparents, and brother, Michael Fox.
Special thanks to Marla Markham, of the Central Valley Regional Center. She was an advocate for Laura from childhood to the present day, and provided advice and support to the family for Laura over the years.

Laura Lynn Mitchell
April 9, 2021
I have known Laura for the past 5 years. She lived at Harmony Homes where I am the DON. Laura had many challenges due to her disabilities and age. Despite the difficulties she faced she had a great personality. She enjoyed music, personal attention, and familiar faces. Laura touched many lives and had a lot of friends at Harmony Homes. She helped me learn more about non verbal communication. We all miss Laura very much! Attached is a picture of Laura at her final stages. Still happy!
-Love always Bonnie
Rest in peace sweetheart

To Laura Family . Hi my name is Margaret Arroyo. Am one of Laura care provider. I work with her at Harmony homes and also at her day program at Valley Adult Day Health Care Center . Your going be missed but not forgotten. Remember your no longer in pain and suffering. You were here on moment then you were gone.we had no idea what was going on. The sadness in our heart is so hard to bear thinking you thought no one cared. How we wish we could have taken it all away.if only we knew what you were thinking that day. A thousand words or tear won’t bring you back to stay. For god said it was time to go his way. Yo are now safe on heaven with all the angles above. They will take care of you and give you their love. Our love for you will always remain. Never forgotten, never the same.

I stayed with Laura many times over the years while she was still living at home. She was a sweetheart with a shy smile and a devilish grin if she wasn’t getting her way! I think of her often and will never forget hearing her beloved Marbles as she would pitch them at the walls of her room!
Grant I’m so sorry your loss. I know you worked hard for many years to give Laura a good life.
My condolences to all the family. My love and prayers to all. Jenny
