Dear Lolo Leon,

Today is the day that we(us) celebrating the best day of your life. 

Happy Birthday Lolo! 

By the time that I've heard the news, I'm shocked, speechless, depressed,teary-eyed by knowing that our beloved grandpa passed away. 

Lolo leon was a strong, hardworking, clever, honest man, very dedicated to his families and friends, until the end of his day he did not give up. 

Whenever I talked to him in the telephone he is always saying "oh kumusta na ung gwapo kong apo, may girlfriend ka na ba? pag-aaral muna unahin ah" by this thing he's giving me advice/implies that studies first before relationships. And it contributed me to become a better person, pursuing my dream/ambitions in life.

Thank you for all the things that you've done for us, all the advices, life-lessons and I will take it to the heart and mind whenever, wherever I go.
 
We're so truly proud that we've had a someone as great a person like you lo.

I'll be sure to follow your footsteps Grandpa.

This man taught me how to leave my fears behind
One of the toughest man in the world, He's my handsome and superb grandpa.
I never feel down every time Im with him or just simply talking with him. Everybody loves and adores him. He is just purely awesome with his own ways. I miss everything about him, the way he laugh, spilling jokes, cooking time with him, and specially the way we talk about life. I remember the last time I saw him was late 2008, and Im 9 years old at that time.  Im reticent for that time because I don't know how to get along with him at my young age,  Im from school and he hugged me so tight, in that moment I felt the timeless love and joy from him. After that, he played  with me like my playmate and asked me so many things. My grandpa loves to have good discussion about life, because I know that Grandpa have been through for many challenges and experiences in life. In that moment, I realized that Age doesn't define maturity, he molded me to become a better person. Spending time talking to him was our great time with each other. I learn so much from him, specially in life matters.  
I love the way he speak, the words from him was such a lesson for me. One of the best Guru that helped me to see the reality of life.  Im forever thankful to Almighty God that I grandpa is with me to my life.

Im not here in my stand without you Grandpa, thank you for everything you've done for me just to have my best future. Im so sad that you're not here when I will graduate from College, but I know even though you're gone, You will be with me throughout my life. My unending gratitude is not enough to thank my grandpa for everything. My last call with him, he told that I should not cry if this time would come, Don't worry Nicole, kahit wala na si lolo andito ako palagi sa tabi mo. Sa tuwing nalulungkot ka kumanta ka lang and always pray, wag ka matakot sa buhay at mahalin mo ang pamilya mo specially yung mama at papa mo, Alam ko na kahit mawawala nako kayo mong tuparin ang mga pangarap mo, malakas at matapang ka syempre mana ka saakin. Love na love kita apo, mag-iingat ka palagi. I can't fight the tears that running because I know grandpa thinks of me so much. He cares and loves me so much, he's very optimist and never let anything or anyone let him down. This is how I know grandpa rules his life , he's very brave throughout his journey. 
Right now, I miss him so much but when I remember his last words, I can feel the gut that he inculcated to me. I know that heaven has another handsome angel and grandpa is happy right now. I will forever love him and still one of the greatest men of my life. Let the angels send my forever love to you, Grandpa will always be in my heart.

There's no such valid reason in saying that you will only remember the good deeds of a man whenever he was gone

This man, my father was the greatest father of all in time of my life. He guided me, give me everything he wanted me to be a good father as well as a good man. Hence, sometimes I fail him, However he was still there, supporting me with his care, understanding and unconditional love.

Tay, I appreciated you.. I love you to the fullest of my heart. No one in my entire life will be greater man than you. Where ever you are right now, definitely you are with our Heavenly Father. Hence, I can still feel your continuous caring and love with me and my family.

Tay, Listen to this word that you will be with my heart and my mind.. I will always be remembering and loving you till the end of my time.

To the Loving, Responsible and Bravest man I've blessedly had, 

I grew up knowing only 1 grandfather and that's Lolo Leon. :) ( i haven't met my grandfather on my mother side) That's why the bond between my Lolo and I was more intrapersonal or commonly they're calling in Filipino "solid". I spent my first few months as a baby with them (Lolo & Lola) and when I reached my 1st year old, they needed to migrate in America. Though, distance didn't become a hindrance for me to feel loved by my Lolo. Lolo Leon was one amazing person in lovingly making me and my entire family feel that we are special and important to him. 
The communication was still there regularly; the care, understanding and love was always been his way of communicating in each every one of us. In fact, I am one of the proud and loud scholar of Lolo Leon, (yes, he even offer to pay the expense of my studies) with He always saying Anything best for the Solomons' "

And now, that i have graduated and starting to explore the world, it's just sad that Lolo Leon was not here anymore to be my continuous guide. I also remember, latter months of detecting his illness, every time we're talking on the phone he was always jokingly asking me about my special someone. And I'm just laughing as a repl. Pero sa totoo lang naiiyak ako kasi, See how Lolo Leon was so concerned about me to think na siya yung may sakit at dapat siya ang ina-aalala at tipong pinatapos na niya ako nang hindi naniningil o nagpaparinig man lang sa buhos ng tulong niya, ngayon naman yung personal life ko naman ang iniisip niya. Gusto niya ng isang magandang buhay sa akin at bawat isa samin. He's a total Angel sent from up above. 

For all you know, Lolo Leon is my Idol!   
Lolo Leon was naturally a loving husband, great father, great grandfather, smart, generous, humble, and a fighter. Lolo Leon was a Great Man.  I am so proud and thankful to say that Lolo was a huge part of my life (studies, values, humors, career and humor) 

I know that your in the best place right now. Where all your pain, tiredness, shared love and support here in the world was given a legit reward from the Almighty. :) You, your thoughts and your unconditional love will always be remaining in my heart and mind. I will always be thankful and continuously thanking you for everything.  I LOVE YOU SO MUCH LOLO LEON.

Dear Tatay,
Thanks so much for everything you'd done for us, especially for my family and for my kids. You were always with us during our roughest journey and you never left us until you knew that everything would be perfectly fine. 

Thank you  Tatay, for being a true father to me, for treating me as your own. Thanks so much for the genuine love, respect and kindness you'd always showered on me and my children. I will always cherish all the wonderful memories we shared together. You will be truly missed because you'd given so much love and kindness to our hearts. You were so incomparable!

 I know, you're now resting peacefully with the Heavenly Father, our Greatest Creator . Your love will always guide us through! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.

Dear Grandpa,

   It's been so long since the last letter that I wrote you, and I couldn't believe myself I'm writing this kind of letter. The truth is I'm still shocked, not only I know all of us, but specially mom Rosemarie when she hear about that you've come up to heaven. Grandpa I miss you so much, I still dream of seeing you, listen to your story, about everything and also about how my great and handsome grandpa courted grandma, but now I'm talking to your picture, looking at the way you smile, reminiscing all of the memories that I had with you with Grandma. 

   Thank you Grandpa for taking care of us, sharing your stories with us, for the unfathomable love and for everything we'll treasure it all and tell our future grandson how great you are. I love you Grandpa, thank you for your nonstop support and patience, even though I fail not once, but even twice you've never asked me why? But as you speak on the phone, I know you're embracing me, and trying to say that its fine I believe in you that you can do it, and do your best next time. You never say the word that would make me down, you didn't also say that I'm a failure but you give me a lot of chances and also worried for me. My tears fall down as I've type, Grandpa I'm very thankful that you're my grandpa, that I've known such a wonderful, handsome and honorable man like you, not only known but also a part of your life, You're the best grandpa.

    You've taught us a lot of things, goals in mind, and will always inspire us. Grandpa I'll keep your motto that you shared w/ me, 'why don't you try me and I'll make your day'', and the story behind it. I admire you so much grandpa and I hope to live my life the way like you did. I will miss you not only today, not only tomorrow, but forever but your words, your kindness, the unfathomable love, and the parts of you will always be with me, us. I dreamed about you the other night Menudo Lover, but I didn't see your face, only your voice. All I heard was murmurs and utters that I don't understand I got worried and cried and woke up, realizing i was really crying. I Miss you so much specially those late night conversation our duets singing "ang tangi kong pag-ibig" fortunately I had it recorded, playing it when i think of you bringing me to tears again. Thank you for everything I cant say more, Words on Dictionaries are not enough to describe how much we value you and how much you value us. Your in Good hands right now Take care ! Till we meet again I LOVE YOU !

When I was younger I remembered my father working in our town "issuing permits" to people who wanted to have a stall or a place to sell their products or produce. Almost everyone knew him.. "The tall man with a mole on top of his nose" fond of dressing up. Sabi nya sa akin jokingly "ala Bernard Bonin daw sya (he jokingly told me, he looks like Bernard Bonin; a Filipino actor during his time). Hmm!

Used to remember him calling our names out loud, one by one at 5 am to attend a 5:30 am mass on Sundays then open up my mother's store after church.

People would come up to me and say "Ikaw ba yong anak ni Leon? (Are you Leon's daughter?)...Here take this and bring it home...It's a basket of fruits or vegetables, as a thank you gesture from whatever he did for them. It's how I vividly remember my father at my grammar and high school years.

My college days, he would write me inspiring letters like "I'm proud of you anak (my child) received your grades from your school.. 'I know you will do well"... stuff like that. Often times those notes would put me right back to my textbooks when I'm in the middle of reading "Liwayway magazines" or "Komiks" or "Mills and Boone Love story books"...What I'm saying is that, my father knows how to get the best out of me!

When he came here with my mother 20 yrs ago, he would go out everyday with my mother walking to apply jobs around the neighborhood. One day he told me "I was hired!" Got a job at McDonalds. I asked him, what made them hire you? He said, "The manager asked me, 'What sports do you like?' 'I love boxing and judo karate Sir. I'm a blackbelter Sir!' Manager said 'Really?' 'Yes Sir! You wanna try it with me? I can even teach you Sir!' Manager responded, 'No, No, It's Ok' smiling..then said 'okay, come back tomorrow around 4 pm to get your uniform.'" It was the highlight of his life then. He was so happy he got a job. So he would go to work everyday they needed him riding his bike. Often times, they would call him at 4 O'clock in the morning, and he was still happy to work. He did it for 5 years, carrying boxes of potatoes from the storage to the cooking place, or sweeping floors, or wiping down tables.

My tatay, I would say was a fighter, a hardworking man, understanding, friendly, a jolly old man who never complained.  He always had a smile on his face. Minsan,  sabi niya sa akin, mayabang din daw siya, in a good way though, to make people laugh. he was well liked by everyone in our town and his friends here, well liked and loved by his children and grandchildren. He's one man with good wisdom. 

"Mahalin mo ang pamilya mo. Mahalin mo ang mga mahal ng mahal mo. Huwag kayong mag-aaway na mag-asawa dahil sa pera. Pera lang yon." These are the standout words of wisdom my tatay has taught me. I so love my father dearly! Saan ka man narrow Tatay, I know you're in heaven. Mahal kita! Alam mo yon!

Hi Grandpa, 

I remember when you came here in 1996. Came just in time for my Kindergarten graduation. You and Grandma loved, raised, and took care of me since day 1. :)

I remember you used to ride your bike to and from work at McDonalds. you were loved and well respected by your colleagues and your boss because you were hardworking and greeted everyone with a smile. Every time I eat at McD, I remember how happy and proud you were to work there. 

Fast forward 15-20 some years later. Remember when i'd bring you and Grandma to the doctor's offices, pick up medicine, and then we'd go grocery shopping? Sometimes we would hang out in the car forever while Grandma shopped! We would talk about life, small chat, or just sit in each other's presence looking and waiting for Grandma.  Of course, you would both feed me once we were home. You still worried and took care of me 20 plus years later. I cherish everything, especially the small things. Priceless.

You're one of the strongest people I've met, with the mind of a warrior and heart of a lion! You were always grateful for the simple things in life and still dressed to impress! Mommy got her style from you :).

You and Grandma are one of a kind. You are Mr. tall dark and handsome (sorry daddy!). No wonder beauty queen Grandma fell for you way back when ;). 58 years of love and marriage, with enough love for your friends and family all over the world. You always worked hard and made sacrifices for your family out of love. I learned soon much from you when it comes to the importance of family, love, generosity, and kindness. 

i am very sad that you won't be at Vanessa's graduation,  Mike's and my wedding, or see your first great grandchild :(. All the holidays birthdays meals spent together will be missed. But of course you will be here in mind, heart, and spirit! Your soul rests in a better place now. You will always hold a special place in my heart :). Grandpas always hold a special place in a granddaughter's heart.

Sometime in the past  my life crossed path with my wife marlene
I met my father and mother in law Leon and Pacita Solomon in 1985 and their other children Rose, Tong Grace and Marissa.

   At the first meeting ever Leon  has treated and accepted me well having help us obtain marriage license in his capacity as a right hand man of the Mayor of bayambang Pangasinan.

   They came to live with us in 1996 and thus my own personal journey with him.started

                      You have been a great provided to your children from their childhood all the way to your death . You are the best t father.

                      You have loved my children Victoria and Vanessa so dearly,helping in baby sirting them you loved  all the grandchildren in the Philippines as well making sure that all will be educated and will be equipped for their future. You even sacrifice personal comfort  just to help. You are the   Grandfather.

                      You have served your country well as market administrator  well loved by pears and stall renters having serve for at least 20 years. You are a great public servant.

                      You have help your sisters in law  in helping then to in their  education as well as ensuring that they secure jobs . You he best  Brother in law.

                      You are well loved by your friends the Heritage Adult daycare, your advises are well regarded in the other groups that you have joined like Pangaco  , Philippine Veterans Group and others. You are a great friend and respected elderly statesman.

                      You are well loved by the Cruzats your second family in Fresno. You are a great second father to them

                      You are a true and loved father of mywife. My thanks to you. You are a great father to my beloved wife.

                     You have treated Pacita  with love and respect . You are the best husband.

                      You treated my late father with dignity and respect , your friendship and personal help, how can i forget you helping him in his last days even changing his diapers. My entire family sisters and my inlaw and their children  will forever be grateful You are a great in law to my father  and to our entire clam

                     Personally thank you Dad, thanks you for the love help respect that you have providedi hope i can mimic your greatest  wisdom of helping all the way to the end without restriction and reservation. I will dearly miss you. You are a great great father in law to me.

                    You have finally slept not into the sunset but into the brightness of the morning. Farewell  Leon    continue on with your journey    are you hearing the music beyond
