Nov. 22, 1939 to Apr. 28, 2011
Linnea Angela Elizalde was born on Nov. 22, 1939 in Fresno to Frank and Helen Elizalde.
Ever gregarious, Linnea was always proud of her Basque heritage and never lacked a great story to tell about her early life in Clovis. She was a Clovis High School pep girl and graduated with the CHS class of 1957. Her career began at Royal Globe Insurance where she met her husband Raymond John Fimbres, Jr. They were married on November 29, 1962.
Linnea and Ray founded their family business, Fimbres Adjusters, and worked side by side for over 27 years. Linnea was known for her political activism, outgoing personality and her determination. It was hard not to smile when Linnea entered a room and immediately began acknowledging every individual, making each one feel special. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Linnea cultivated many close and enduring friendships throughout her lifetime. The line between friend and family member was often blurred as Linnea sought to be a sister, mother or aunt to all.
It was not unusual for her to keep in touch with chums from her school years. She loved talking to and visiting her friends, shopping, discussing politics and spending time with her family.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Saul and the staff at Saint Agnes Critical Care for their unwavering support and care of Linnea in her last days. They also wish to thank Dr. Koster and the doctors and staff at Hematology Oncology Medical Group of Fresno.
She was preceeded in death by her father Frank Elizalde; her mother, Helen Castor; stepfather, Lyle Castor; and her parents-in-law, Raymond and Carmen Fimbres.
Linnea is survived by her husband, Raymond J. Fimbres, Jr.; her son, Dr. Scott Fimbres and his wife Koko of Fresno; son Mark Fimbres, and his wife Jane of Fresno; daughter RaeAnn Boyett and her husband David of Corcoran; grandchildren Michael Hicks, Raymond John "RJ" Fimbres III, Margaux Fimbres, Phillip Boyett and Bryn Anne Boyett; sister Mona Elliott and her husband Marion of Manteca, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Monday, May 2, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Linnea's memory to The Lupus Foundation of Northern California, 2635 N. First Street, Ste. 206, San Jose, Ca. 95134-2032.
