Louie passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2013. He was born in Mexico City on November 21,1921; his family immigrated to the U.S. when Louie was a year old. He was the fifth of 12 children born to Jorge and Carmen Rodriguez.
Louie proudly became a U.S. citizen but he continued to be equally proud
of his Mexican heritage. Among his numerous jobs Louie worked at Valley Box, Fresno County Legal Services and Fresno County Courts. He later became a freelance interpreter specializing with the medical profession. He was a favorite of many doctors and lawyers. As a young man he was not only a good athlete but became a coach in basketball and softball. Under his leadership his "Club Gaona" softball team won several championships
in the late 40's and early 50's. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, George, Joaquin, and Ruben; his sisters, Micaela, Susie, and Eleanor. Louie is survived by his wife Ethel of 66 years; his children, Sarah and Ernest Castillo of Beltsville, MD, Louis Jr. and Kathy Rodriguez, Richard and Lee Rodriguez of Fresno; nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; three brothers; three sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
