Louise Nakaguchi, age 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 13, 2026. She was born on July 4, 1944, in Grand Junction, Colorado, to Kazuo (“Ed”) and Shizuko Domoto. Following the war, her family returned to Fresno, California, where she was raised.
Louise earned her associate degree from Fresno City College and soon began her career as a legal secretary. After taking time to raise her family, she returned to full-time work in 1985 with McCormick Barstow Law Firm, where she remained until her retirement in 2009.
In retirement, Louise found great joy in the simple pleasures of life—spending time with family and friends, playing golf, ping pong, and enjoying card games and gatherings with those closest to her. She cherished the moments she shared with her grandchildren, who brought her endless happiness and laughter.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Shiz, and her husband, Richard.
She is survived by her brother, Gerald Domoto and his wife, Margie; her sister, Elaine Kamimoto and her husband, Sho; her children, Shelley Nakaguchi-Wong and her husband, Tom, and Russell Nakaguchi and his wife, Jean; and her beloved grandchildren, Robbie and Kaylee Wong, and Nathan and Noah Nakaguchi. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A Memorial Service will be held at United Japanese Christian Church, 136 N. Villa Avenue, Clovis, California, on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 11:00 am.
