

Lovina lived in the Fresno area most of her life. Her early years were spent in Kerman, California, and she later graduated from Sanger High School and Fresno Junior College. She worked as an accountant, first for the U.S. Navy in Lemoore, California, and then for Pacific Gas and Electric Company in Fresno. She later assumed the main accounting and business responsibilities for the family farm she operated with her husband for more than 50 years.
Lovina married Rudolph Geringer in 1947. Together, they built a life in West Fresno farming grapes. They raised a daughter, Sharon, and were dedicated members of the Free Evangelical Lutheran Cross Church in Fresno. They celebrated Rudy's heritage as a Volga German and were active in the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia. They also spent many good times with friends from the farming community in Biola, California. Lovina was active as a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Post 5845.
Widowed after nearly 60 years of marriage, Lovina continued to live at the family farm until 2010, when she moved to Fresno. In 2013, she moved to Davis, to be closer to her daughter.
In addition to her husband Rudy, Lovina was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Ervin Norman and Nellie B. (Davis) Norman; her brother, Alva Davis Norman; and her older sister, Alma Florence (Norman) Sewall.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Trask and husband Dann of Davis Ca.; granddaughters, Shana and Benjamin Lear, of State College, Pa., Allison and Daniel Myers of, Poway, Ca.,and April Trask of Irvine, Ca.; and great-grandchildren, Holly and Summer Myers, Poway, Ca.
A Graveside Service will be held at Fresno Memorial Gardens (Whitesbridge and Cornelia) on Friday, February 7, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. reception to follow.
