Lyn Anne Acitelli, 86, of Fresno, CA passed away the morning of August 7th, 2023 after a brief period of illness. She spent her last days surrounded by loved ones and passed away peacefully at Heritage Crossings Hospice in Clovis, CA.
Lyn was predeceased by her husband Roberto Acitelli, mother Carol Mayo Levis, father William Kent Levis and younger brother Larry Levis.
Born as Carol Anne Levis on January 25th 1937, Lyn was the oldest of the four children born to Kent and Carol Levis. She had the privilege of growing up on a sprawling family farm surrounded by extended family, fruit orchards, vineyards, chickens and a loyal pet horse named Bing. She had a profound love of animals and raised her children to be kind stewards of all living things.
After graduating from Fresno State College in 1958 she went on to receive her teaching credentials and made a career out of teaching art and drama at the junior high school level. She was truly beloved by her students and many of them stayed in touch her with her well into their adulthood.
Shortly after college Lyn found herself living and working in Rome, Italy where she met the love of her life, Roberto Acitelli. The two were married in both Rome and Selma and eventually settled in Fresno to raise their three children. Though she called Fresno home, Lyn’s heart remained in Rome, where she and Roberto were fortunate to be able to share many summers and much of their retirement together.
Lyn was passionate about art and continued to paint and draw until advanced age made that an impossibility for her. She had many interests but especially loved the opera, Etruscan history, science fiction, the architecture of Julia Morgan, her rose garden and the Sierra Nevada mountains where she spent summers as a child.
Lyn is survived by her three children, Daniela Acitelli of London, England, Caterina Acitelli of Seattle, WA and Michael Acitelli of Fresno, CA, as well as by her sister Sheila Levis Brady of Portland, OR and brother William Kent Levis, Jr of Cambria, CA. She also leaves behind her loving pet dog Tippy who was a true and constant companion in Lyn’s final years and her beloved close family friends who made up her ‘adopted’ Italian family here in the US.
Lyn was a wonderfully kind and loving wife, mother and friend and will be very much missed by all that knew her.
