As a young girl, Mom developed a love of reading and instilled this passion into her children. One of her favorite books was "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" which influenced her belief in seeking a better life through education. Mom was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren's accomplishments. Along with her desire to be a good wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was guided by an intense belief in God, love and the power of prayer.
We would like to extend a special thanks to our brother John and his wife Jeannie for providing love and comfort in their home in her last days.
Mom was preceded in death by her husband, Felix; son, Art; granddaughter, Carol Anne Hernandez; grandson, Jerry V. Balber; and son-in-law, Bill Hernandez;
Mom is survived by sons, Rudy, Frank, Dan, John, Michael; and daughters, Lupe Hernandez, Mary Wells, Mona Balber, Debbie and Martha Almonte; and also 27 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.
Remembrances may be made to Father Flanagan's Boys Town, 200 Flanagan Blvd. P.O. Box 6000, Boys Town, NE 68010-9988.
