Margaret Morrow Young, born May 18th 1930 in Quincy, California. She was the second youngest of six girls. She had a love of nature, the mountains, skiing and gardening. She also had a passion for digging up old bottles and had an amazing collection of depression age bottles and glassware that decorated her shelves. Also some vintage Indian baskets that were from her mother and grandmother.
She married for the second time to Ken Young in 1981.Together they bought a hand-built
cabin near Shaver Lake surrounded by redwood trees. After they retired much of their time was spent at the cabin or skiing at Lake Tahoe.
I was adopted shortly after my birth in 1953, so I never knew her growing up. I was able to find her and meet her in 1981 when I was 28 years old. I discovered that I was her only child. We quickly developed a close relationship that lasted the rest of her life.We shared a love of the mountains, nature, gardening and antiques, but not skiing.
My wife, Karen, and I visited Marge and Ken many times at their home in Fresno and at the cabin. They would also visit us in the Bay area.We would take them to places that we loved and enjoyed sharing with them.
Ken passed away in 2016 from cancer. Marge was able to continue living at their home and
keep up the gardening with the help of her generous neighbors, John and Debbie Ford. Even at the age of 94 she was working in the garden and driving herself to stores to do her shopping.
In June of 2024 she had a stroke. She was never able to return home and died January 30th, 2025.
It is comforting to know that she was able to live a long and productive life doing what she loved with the support of many friends and family who loved her and will miss her.
