Maria Azevedo

Maria was called home to our Savior on Monday, December 27, 2010. Born on June 14, 1920, Maria das Neves married Manuel Aze- vedo on September 21, 1938, in Sao Jorge, Azores of Portugal. To- gether they raised two children, Lucille and Lou. In 1966 the family began a new life in America.

Knitting and crocheting were forever keeping Maria's hands busy. Her garden was constantly filled with flowers as well as the fruit and vegetables planted by Manuel. A cake was always waiting to be served to every visitor in their home.

We celebrate her life in memory of her devotion to God and family.

Thank you, Mom, for being the perfect example of Christ.

She is preceded in death by Manuel Azevedo, her loving husband of 59 years and a brother, Jose Augusto.

Her life is celebrated by countless loving family members including her daughter, Lucille Wright and her husband, Kermit and their daughters, Nicole Amaral and Monica Griffith; her son, Lou Azevedo and his wife Lori and their daughters, Melissa Turner and Rachel Azevedo. Maria is also survived by brothers, Manuel and Moises Silveira of the Azores. Maria spent her final years enjoying time with her great-grandchildren, Logan and Levi Amaral, and Chase Griffith.

Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Sunday, January 2, 2011, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. followed by Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 4:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Clovis on Monday, January 3, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. with a Graveside Service following at St. Peters Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Catholic Charities.
