Marie was a retired baker for Fresno Unified School District. She was also a member of Herman Sohne Lodge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Merk; brothers, Ed Lung, Bill Lung, Henry Lung, Harry Lung, and Roy Lung; and sisters, Emma Engleman and Elsie Thompson.
Marie is survived by her daughters, Loretta Coito and Carlene Abrams; her son, Duane Merk; nine grandchildren, Doug Merk, Marc Merk, Christy Toth,Carla Coito, Bryan Coito, Darin Coito, Kim Martin, Mari Dronyk, and John Thornton; fifteen great-grandchil- dren; and ten great-great grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held at Mt. View Cemetery on Monday, March 14, 2011, at 11:00 a.m.
Remembrances may be made to Hinds Hospice.
