Marilyn Louise Small
September 13, 1930 – January 6, 2021
Marilyn Louise Small passed away peacefully on January 6th 2021 under the compassionate care of the Nazareth House Nurses. She was born on September 13th, 1930 in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Lyn was married to Richard D Small, who passed away in 2009. Their union yielded 5 very fortunate children. She is survived by Joy O' Connor, Mark Small and Chris Cook and her son in laws Vaughn O’Connor, Paul Cook and daughter in law Gloria Small, as well as 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by two children Christopher Small and Susan Parr.
She served for many years as the wedding coordinator and Women's Club President at St. Anthony Claret in Anaheim, CA. Around 1990 mom and dad relocated to Fresno California. They joined the parish of St. Anthony of Padua where she became active as a Eucharistic minister to the homebound and a member of the Queen of the Holy Family Guild. Mom enjoyed teaching art and watercolor at both of these churches.
She was an accomplished human being dedicated to doing God’s work while showing others how to navigate through life's challenges by using God's love and wisdom as a guide. Her role as wife, mother, aunt, grandma and friend will be missed by all who knew her. She loved so many, in so many ways, and had a heart, that pulsed for everyone. When her physical strength was compromised, her spiritual capacity (via prayers) increased. Family and friends were always on her prayer list. She helped others feel the love of Christ by being like Christ. That loving attribute was often reflected in her countenance and her love could penetrate hearts all around. As was said of Jesus (Acts 10:38) Lyn "...went about doing good..." for God was with her. We love you Mom!
Due to the pandemic the family will have a private interment at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Southern California at a later date.

My condolences to the Small Family. My thought and prayers are with all of you.
I met your Mom at San Joaquin Valley Hospital’s water aerobics class. I loved her gentle manner.
I will always have fond memories of our time together.
