On September 19, 2025, on the wings of angels, my Mom left us to be with our Lord. I take comfort in knowing that Mom is now reunited with my Dad, Al Mendoza and with her beloved son and my brother Randy. Martina Mendoza, or Marti as she liked to be called, was born on January 30, 1931 in Fresno, County, California. She was the seventh child born to Samuel Ramos and Francesca Marta. Her education was not continuous but she did receive her high school diploma and did some college course work at Fresno City College (as it was known back then). In 1970, she started tutoring obtaining a position with Migrant Education for Fresno County Schools She later became a Migrant aide and retired after over 20 years of service.
Marti’s greatest achievement was her family. She married Alfred H. Mendoza (“Al”) on August 28, 1955 and had two children, a daughter and son. Her family was her life. Al and Marti celebrated 64 years of marriage before Al’s untimely death. Her son Randy Mendoza also predeceased her. She leaves behind her devoted daughter, Renee Mendoza, daughter in law Linda Mendoza and two granddaughters, Lauren and Cheryl Mendoza. She also leaves behind one brother Raul Ramos and one sister Pearl Cardenas along with many nieces and nephews, sisters-in -law, a brother-in-law and several devoted friends.
Marti was a great source of strength to her husband and children throughout her life providing unwavering support no matter the situation and strength during our lowest moments. Her unwavering faith in God sustained her during her lowest moments and she passed that faith on to her family. My life simply won’t be the same without her. I will miss her smile, her laughter and the joy and love in her eyes when she greeted me.
During the last three years of her life, Mom was unable to live alone but she was able to remain in her home due to the staff at Well Being Senior Solutions and most especially with the aide of her miraculous caregivers, Myra, Sandy, Serena, Irene, Maria, Martina, and Crystal (along with many others) gave their all to insure that Mom could live her remaining years comfortably in her own home. To each of them, and from the bottom of my heart, I am eternally grateful.
