Mary Lenore Calder

MARY LENORE EVANS CALDER was born May 2, 1942, in Evanston, Wyoming to Oral Jacob Evans and Delia Vanderwood Evans, and left her suffering from Alzheimer’s behind on July 4, 2026, in Clovis, California.

She grew up in Ogden, Utah where she attended Madison Elementary, Central Junior High, and graduated from Ogden High School in 1960, where she was in pep club. Mary fiercely loved her beautiful high school. Go Tigers!!

Mary had three daughters with her husband Rex Dale Calder: Tracy Malia Dearsan (William), Melanie Paige Carlson (David), and Laura Leigh Calder.

Mary spent several years as a tax examiner at the Ogden Service Center until retiring in 1975. She and her girls, along with her mother, moved to Fresno, California in July of 1977. There she owned and ran a daycare center for several years.

Mary enjoyed sewing, quilting, and crocheting. She was no stranger to a good concert, having seen Def Leppard and Cheap Trick many times. Nana was a rocker!

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Rex, her brother, Eldon Eugene Evans (Maria Emma “Kika”), her sister, Evelyn Marie Millering (Benjamin), and her daughter, Laura. She is survived by her sister, Lorna Lee Burnham (David); daughters, Tracy and Melanie; step-children, Melissa Kaye Maddux-Calder, Cameron Dale Cutlers, and RaNae Dawn Calder; grandchildren, Zachary Jonathon Carlson and Adam Blair Carlson (Cassandra); step-grandchildren, Haley Aguilar (Esteban), David Calder (Samantha), Justa Juanita Calder, and Grady Barton Bondegarde; and step-great-grandchildren, Dylan Ortgone, Kayecyn Ortgone, Quinlan Andrade, Emily Calder, Chevy Calder, and Diesel Calder.

Visitation will commence on July 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at Stephens & Bean, 202 North Teilman, Fresno, California 93706, followed by remembrance of Mary, with a graveside ceremony afterward at Belmont Memorial Park. Refreshments to be enjoyed afterward at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Gettysburg in Clovis, California.
