Mary met Bill Carpenter, the love of her life, when she was 13 years old. They married while Bill was on leave from World War II, and shared 70 loving years together until his death in April of 2014. She moved to Fresno with Bill in 1951. They were blessed with six children.
Mary was the consummate homemaker and volunteer. The Young Ladies Institute (YLI), and Saint Agnes Medical Center were her favorite amongst the many institutions for which she gave her time. A devoted Catholic, her greatest joy was her family and church. Her family fame was for always whispering in each child's ear, "You know what? I love you". Mary rivaled Marie Callender with her baking of pies.
The family would like to thank the Nazareth House for the exceptional and loving care that she received.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill; parents, Ernest and Lilly Bringle; and sister, Violet Allm.
Mary will be missed by her daughters, Janene Massucco and husband Harry, and Christy Dawsen and husband Phil; sons, Kent Carpenter and wife Terri, Kevin Carpenter and wife Vanessia, Cliff Carpenter and wife Michelle, and David Carpenter and wife Shari; brother, Ernest Bringle Jr.; sister,
Alene Livingston; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and more on the way.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Thursday, December 18, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held at Saint Peters Cemetery.
