Kay was born and raised in West Fresno. She excelled academically at San Joaquin Memorial High School, skipping several grades, and enrolled in Fresno State College at 16. She did graduate work in English Literature at the University of Washington and at University of Southern California. She taught school in Fresno before marrying her first husband Max. They shared the joys and burdens of raising their children together, until his passing.
She returned with her children to Fresno where she became re-acquainted with Michael DeJusto, whom she had met years earlier at San Joaquin Memorial, and they were married in late 1993. The couple enjoyed traveling together, visiting family and seeing its next generation, most especially Kay's grandson, growing up.
They lived in many places around the country, including a beautiful home near Austin, Tx. with a view of Lake Travis, and were returning again to Fresno at the time of her sudden passing.
We say goodbye to you, Kay. Goodbye to our wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and, most of all, our friend.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Max Truex, in 1991.
She leaves behind Michael, her husband of 17 years; children, Gene, John, and Mindy Truex; and grandson, Spenser Truex; as well as her brothers, Joseph, Vito, Louis, Robert, Anthony, and John Grieco; and sister, Helen Adams.
