Mary Kay Katherine Grieco De Justo

November 6, 1946March 19, 2010

Mary Katherine "Kay" Truex DeJusto passed away on Friday, March 19, 2010.

Kay was born and raised in West Fresno. She excelled academically at San Joaquin Memorial High School, skipping several grades, and enrolled in Fresno State College at 16. She did graduate work in English Literature at the University of Washington and at University of Southern California. She taught school in Fresno before marrying her first husband Max. They shared the joys and burdens of raising their children together, until his passing.

She returned with her children to Fresno where she became re-acquainted with Michael DeJusto, whom she had met years earlier at San Joaquin Memorial, and they were married in late 1993. The couple enjoyed traveling together, visiting family and seeing its next generation, most especially Kay's grandson, growing up.

They lived in many places around the country, including a beautiful home near Austin, Tx. with a view of Lake Travis, and were returning again to Fresno at the time of her sudden passing. We say goodbye to you, Kay. Goodbye to our wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and, most of all, our friend. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Max Truex, in 1991.

She leaves behind Michael, her husband of 17 years; children, Gene, John, and Mindy Truex; and grandson, Spenser Truex; as well as her brothers, Joseph, Vito, Louis, Robert, Anthony, and John Grieco; and sister, Helen Adams.

Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home, on Friday, March 26, 2010, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the St. Anthony Chapel at St. Peter's Cemetery on Saturday, March 27, 2010, at 10:00 a.m.

Dear Gene, John, MIndy and Michael,
We are shocked and saddened by Kay's sudden passing. She was such bright and enthsiastic woman and we treasure many happy memories of time together. May all of you, her family, be kind and caring of each other as you grieve and adjust to life without her. With love, Jean and Murray Cockburn

When we think of Kay, we think of the legacy she left behind. Kay left imprints of her love everywhere she went. She spoke with strength and wisdom that built confidence in our daily walk. We do not know all the lives she touched with good because we have such a tiny span on earth for our destiny to fulfill. But we do know her words built godly character and our goal should be as hers, to carve our names on hearts, not slabs of stone. We should guard our hearts as she did so when we take our final breath, we'll leave a legacy of love as we close our eyes in death. Kay was this person. She was a dear friend of Tom and Mine. We emailed photos of family members and talked great lengths on the phone at times. She will be missed greatly. Our prayers, sympathy and love are being sent to Michael, Sandra, Spenser and all of Kay's dearest family. (We receieved the best picture of her, Spenser and Michael last summer. Thanks Kay for sharing the love of your life.)
