It is with a deep sadness that we announce May Chin Wong passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 22, 2025, in Moorpark, California. She was the beloved family matriarch, a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many.
May was born on July 11, 1921. She was delivered by her father on their family farm in Madera, California. She was the third daughter of her father, Dig Fong Go, and her mother, Hing Woo Go. May attended Ripperdan Elementary School, and later, one year of high school before she visited China in 1937, eventually returning to the U.S. in 1939.
May married her husband, Herbert K.C. Wong, on March 31, 1941. Together, they owned and operated farms in both Sanger and Cutler, and they had two children, Jan and Dick. After 49 years of happy marriage, Herbert passed away from congestive heart failure on November 11, 1990. May chose not to remarry for her remaining years and moved to Moorpark in 2007, where she stayed busy with cooking, gardening, attending church, and staying in touch with her friends and family.
May is survived by her brother, George Go, her daughter Jan Jue and husband Larry, and her son Dick Wong and wife Nira. She is also survived by grandchildren Lauren Gee and husband Brian, Michelle Jue, Erik Jue and partner Val, Kianna Olson and husband Corey, and Melissa Wong. May was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert K.C. Wong, her siblings Young Go, Ching Chun, Tai Kong, Kong Go, and Nice Cho, and her granddaughter, Julie Wong.
