She graduated from North High School in Bakersfield and from cosmetology school. Moving to Fresno in 1962, she worked for Fresno Unified School District in the graphics department.
Melinda was a member of Job's Daughter and belonged to the Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by her brother John L. Butler and his wife Kay of Bakersfield, her niece Debra Butler of Bakersfield and nephew David Butler of Florida. Tasha and Jennifer Baughman of Alaska. Melinda also is survived by many cousins.
A Funeral Service will be held at Lisle Funeral Home on August 18, 2012 at 11:00 am. The Burial will be private at Greenlawn Cemetery in Bakersfield, California.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the SPCA, Nancy Hinds Hospice or St. Agnes Hospital.
