During those years, he developed a love of music. As a young adult, he left home to focus on life as a musician. In 1971, he met and married Lillia Chilton. He returned to the farm to raise a family, but never gave up his passion of playing the drums.
He was a member of NFO and sat on numerous Boards, James Irrigation District; Fresno County Fire Protection District; and Fresno Slough Water District.
