Mildred Levy- Albert

October 8, 1933October 7, 2012

Millie was born in Los Angeles on October 8, 1933, to Louis and Mary Ruten. After the birth of her sister, Pearl, Millie's family relocated to San Francisco, where she attended Washington High School and met Herbert Levy. Millie and Herb married and settled in San Jose, where they raised their children, Joel, Mark, and Sharon. After stops in Modesto and Reno, Millie and Herb moved to Fresno in 1979, where they found a warm and caring community to call home. Millie saw her children marry their wonderful spouses, Annette, Paul, and Karen, and she enjoyed many special family events over the years. Millie worked for Fresno Unified School District for several years, but what Millie loved best was being a wife, homemaker, mother, and especially grandmother or "Bubbe" to her grandchildren, Stephanie, Zachary, Adam, Jeffrey, Evan, Bailey, and Emma. She had a passion for cooking and baking. Her matzo ball soup and schnecken cookies were thoroughly enjoyed by countless family and friends. Millie was a member of Temple Beth Israel and she treasured her Jewish traditions. Millie's marriage to Leonard Albert in 2005 made the last chapter of her life one of the best. Leonard and Millie traveled, attended the theater, and shared great times with their many friends. Most of all they enjoyed each other's love, companionship and support through life's ups and down. Millie inherited a wonderful new family in the Albert children and their spouses, Carol and Richard, Brenda and Pete, and Louis and Robyn, as well as her new grandchildren, Alyssa, Ryane, Elizabeth and Peter, and Garrett. Millie is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephew, great-niece, and great-nephew. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Pearl and Harry Cohen; and her sister-in-law, Evelyn Heilbronn. Millie's kind and generous spirit will be missed by all. A Funeral Service will be held at Lisle Funeral Home, on Thursday, October 11, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Temple Beth Israel or Camp Shalom.
