Miyoko and her family were unjustly imprisoned in America’s concentration camps during WWII. Fifteen years after graduating as Caruthers High School valedictorian, she resumed her education and graduated from Seattle Pacific University, where she met and married Jundo Uzaki. In 1960, after Jundo’s theological education, they left with their daughter, Keiko, to serve a church in Japan. Jundo unexpectedly died in 1961, and Miyoko remained in Japan teaching English for 12 years.
She and Keiko returned to Caruthers where Miyoko worked at a bank. After retirement, she volunteered 17 years at Red Cross.
Memorial Service set for Saturday, April 16, 1:00 pm at Caruthers United Methodist Church.
