Born on May 9, 1951, in Fresno, California, Monica lived a life full of joy and dedication to her family, friends, and community. She attended Jane Adams Elementary and Fresno High School before pursuing her passion for cooking at culinary school for about two years. Her love for cooking was undeniably rooted in the time she spent with her father, working alongside him for over a decade in both his restaurant and catering business. Monica also dedicated 35 years of her career to Fresno State as a devoted office worker in the mail room and administration building.
Beyond her professional career, Monica was a dedicated team member of the Fresno City recreation softball teams, The Suspects, and also Trino's Bookies, a team her brother helped found. Monica also coached softball at Roosevelt High School and Cooper Middle School. Her athletic endeavors were matched by her unwavering support for her favorite teams, the Dodgers and the Cowboys.
A lover of the outdoors, Monica found peace and happiness in camping and enjoying nature’s beauty. She cherished her flowers and plants almost as much as she adored her dog Mookie and cat Yahtzee.
Monica's dedication to her personal interests was evident in her membership with the Fig Garden Club, where she swam at least twice weekly. She also thoroughly enjoyed taking a few cruises, a travel experience that brought her great joy and a sense of adventure.
Her love for her nieces and nephews, whom she regarded as her own children, was unparalleled. Whether watching her nieces play softball or her nephew play basketball, Monica was a constant and encouraging presence in their lives.
Perhaps one of Monica's most profound expressions of love was her commitment to ensuring that her loved ones were well-fed and cared for. Her vibrant personality shone through her always-maintained nails and hair, and she was known for her love of bling and Dodgers memorabilia.
Monica's favorite quip about her age, "I'm 21 forever," epitomized her youthful spirit and zest for life, which she carried with her throughout her years.
