In Loving Memory of Nash F. Cobarrubias
Nash F. Cobarrubias was born in 1944 in Fresno, California. He was a beloved husband, father, Papa, Nino, uncle, brother, son, and friend. For over 80 years, he lived his life authentically, truthfully, and lovingly.
Nash leaves behind his beautiful and devoted wife, Mary Ellen Cobarrubias, who shared 61 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, good natured teasing, and unforgettable memories. He is survived by his daughter, Judy Garza, son, Brandon Cobarrubias, son-in-law, David Garza, daughter-in-law, Summer Cobarrubias, and his brothers, Manuel Cobarrubias, and John Cobarrubias. He was preceded in his death by his parents Refujio and Dolores, his brothers Joe, Jesse, and Philip, his sisters Molly, Mona, and Jeni, and his grandson Jack.
He was a devout Catholic, with his faith being an integral part of his life. He worked hard to ensure his children were able to attend parochial school through elementary and high school. He was an active member of Sacred Heart, and later St. Therese churches, where he served as an usher. His faith, kindness, and commitment to his church community were the foundation of his character. He carried his faith with him through all seasons of life, and found comfort in his relationship with God.
Nash enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He was fiercely devoted to the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Los Angeles Rams. He loved watching his favorite teams play, especially with his family. He also enjoyed playing golf, eating a good meal, and relaxing while watching a good old Western on AMC.
While these simple pleasures brought him great joy, nothing meant more to him that being surrounded by his family. He was a loving and devoted Papa to his four grandchildren, Jessica Garza, Adam Garza, Madison Garza, and Brynn Cobarrubias, as well as his step-grandchildren Craig and Jack Schwass. He took great pride being there for them, making it a priority to attend all of their activities. Whether it was a game, performance, school event, or special occasion, Papa was there cheering them on, and supporting them every step of the way. His grandchildren knew how much they were loved, and they will forever cherish the memories they shared with Papa.
He will be remembered for his steadfast heart, warm sense of humor, and the incredible warmth he brought to every room. The unconditional love and devotion he showed to his family, and the kindness he gave to all who crossed his path, left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.
Though our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of our sweet Nash, we are grateful for every moment shared with him. We find comfort and peace knowing he has been welcomed into God’s loving arms, reunited with family members and friends who went before him. We can easily imagine him surrounded by those he loved, sharing stories and laughter once again, and definitely watching the Dodgers.
Even though Nash can no longer physically fill his chair, his place at our family table will never be lost. His love will continue to live on through all of us, carried in our hearts, and passed down for generations to come.
Until we meet again in heaven, may eternal peace be his.
