Nicholas Wayne Rutherford who loved to go by "Nick", age 39, of Fresno, California went peacefully on Monday, March 8, 2021. Nicholas was born December 19, 1981 in Fresno, California to Deborah "Debbie" Rutherford and Boyd Rutherford.

My brother Nick was such a special person. I've never known someone to be so kind, thoughtful and giving. He loved to hand out baseball cards and his drawings with prayers on them to everyone he met. He had such a pure soul. Nick touched so many lives when he was on his spiritual journey with God. He would tell everyone he met about his love of God and how he had been saved. He dedicated his life and soul to our lord and savior Jesus Christ. He loved spending time coloring and sharing stories with his niece's and nephew's. He will be dearly missed and remembered often.

Nick is survived by his father Boyd Rutherford and his mother Deborah "Debbie" Rutherford; sister Melissa Guiba, brother-in-law Edward Guiba; and his nieces Sarenidee Guiba and Azalia Guiba and nephew Matthew Guiba.

Nicholas also leaves behind Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Friends and his sister Melissa's extended family to cherish his memories forever.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at for the Rutherford family.

Nick was a blessing to our family. He loved sharing his testimony with everyone he met and would always greet you with a smile. He would often hand you a page of sports cards with players from your favorite team. He loved to give to others and had a very gentle and kind spirit. He will be missed until one day we meet again.

Nicholas was a dear friend of ours and will be missed so much! We knew him for many years, as he would come to our shopping center almost daily. We enjoyed his visits and his love for the lord. There was never a time that he would leave us and not say, “I love you, God bless.” We have countless drawings and his testimony that will be cherished for ever. We are at comfort knowing that he is in a better place. In our hearts forever.

I met Nicholas a few months ago and only had the opportunity to speak with him
a few times. In each interaction Nicholas was very kind, gentle and polite. On one occasion I was speaking to a man laying on the sidewalk along Friant road and Nick dropped everything in his arms and came running towards us, asking “Is he all right, does he need help?” I was very moved by Nick’s compassion towards his fellow man. I will remember him as a gentle spirit.

Nick modeled the love of Jesus. I remember him doing yard work for businesses and often helped the homeless living on the premises. He shared Jesus with anyone no matter how broken their life had become. He was busy sharing his drawings on the bus and business owners alike with a childlike love and faith. He understood the slavery of drugs and its destruction. Yet, Nick also discovered the love, grace and forgiveness Jesus offers. I remember a reoccurring dream he had of where to find safety in the last days. He now is with his hope and Savior: whole and healed. I will miss Nick.

Nick was such a special person to our family when we lived in Fresno. He helped in our yard, shared meals and attended our Bible study. He always had a kind word and was willing to pitch in wherever needed. I am thankful that Nick was my friend.

I can remember Nick walking by fishing pole in hand headed to the river going fishing. Not sure he enjoyed anything more than fishing. Him and his dog walking side by side on the way to the river to catch some fish. Always a wave and a howdy, how’s your day? With a big smile on his face! On his way to the river to go catch some fish! That’s how I remember Nick!

Nick was the most thoughtful, caring, giving human being I have ever met. If he knew you or if he didn't know you it didn't matter to him. You were a human being that was struggling, whatever he could do to help, he would. Our world needs more people like Nick in it. He is in heaven now doing his kind deeds. He will be greatly missed. Until we meet again my friend...
