

Noboru "Nob" Sasaki, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at the age of 91. He was born in Fresno, Ca. on January 23, 1922, to Tokuo and Hatsuko Sasaki, both immigrants from Japan. He graduated from Washington Union High School in 1940, and was a vineyard farmer for over 75 years in the Bowles area.
After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Nob and his family were relocated to the Fresno Assembly Center, Jerome, Tule Lake, and Bismarck. He moved to Hiroshima, Japan during the war and married Harumi Ota in 1952. They returned to Fresno in 1954, and began his family farm with the support of his older brother Jim.
As a teenager and young adult, Nob enjoyed playing basketball and baseball and was an avid fan of Fresno State football and basketball later in life. He also attended nearly every sporting event to see his grandsons participate, and was always supportive of his granddaughter's educational pursuits.
Nob is survived by Harumi, his wife of 61 years; his daughter, Nadine Takeuchi and her husband Norman, of Fresno; his son, Arthur Sasaki and wife Grace, of Fresno; and grandchildren, Kayla Takeuchi, Brandon and Derek Sasaki. He is also survived by his brothers, Jim of Fresno, and Sakae of Culver City.
Visitation will be held at Lisle Funeral Home on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held at Lisle Funeral Home on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.
